Joshua Johnlouis

Mr. Joshua Johnlouis is native of Crosby, Texas, and a proud product of the Texas choral education system. The son of two loving parents, Angela and Jerrod, Joshua was immersed in music from an early age, surrounded by the sounds of zydeco, soul, R&B, and country.

He is a graduate of Crosby High School, where he had the privilege of learning from outstanding choral music educators such as Brianna Fernandez, Coty Raven Morris, and Anna Diemer. Following high school, Joshua pursued higher education at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he earned both a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education.

During his time at Howard, he studied under distinguished professors including Dr. Benita Gladney, Dr. J. Kehembe Eichelberger, Angela Powell Walker, Dr. Eric Poole, and Dr. Alicia Renix.

While at Howard University, Joshua performed and toured with a number of leading ensembles across a wide range of music including the world-renowned Howard Gospel Choir, the Howard University Chorale, and the National Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorale, gaining invaluable experience as a musician, performer, and educator.

After graduating, Joshua returned to Texas to fulfill his dream of becoming a High School Choral Director. In 2025 Joshua began his professional teaching career as the Head Choir Director at Goose Creek Memorial High School, where he has dedicated himself to rebuilding and strengthening the choir program. Joshua remains deeply grateful to all who have supported him along his journey and continues to passionately contribute to the choral music art form.
